Importance of Abhyanga Massage

Abhyanga is a form of Ayurvedic massage that involves the application of warm oil on the body, followed by a rhythmic massage using specific techniques. It is considered a daily self-care practice in Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine from India, and is believed to have numerous health benefits for the body, mind, and spirit.

Six Tastes Theory in Ayurveda

Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of medicine, recognizes six tastes, known as “Shadrasa” in Sanskrit. According to Ayurveda, these six tastes are fundamental to understanding the properties and effects of different foods on the body and mind. The six tastes in Ayurveda are:

1. Sweet (Madhura)

2. Sour (Amla)

3. Salty (Lavan)

4. Bitter ( Tikt)

5. Pungent (Katu)

6. Astringent (Kashaya)
